A flock over the hills

After three days of rain the sun came back, and so did the birds.

A large flock of pigeons scattered across a sky of broken cloud and blue

Winter rain on the south coast arrives in short, serious spells. Three days, sometimes four, with the sea grey and the terrace dripping. Then it stops, the wind turns, and by the afternoon the sky is this.

The pigeons belong to the village lofts and take their exercise over the hills when the weather lifts. Watch them from the balcony with coffee. It is the most reliable forecast we have: when they fly, the next few days are clear.
