The House
Built of stone, made for slow days
135 m² of authentic Cretan masonry on two levels, restored with a contemporary interior of stone, wood and metal.
Two brothers, and walls half a metre thick
The Stone House was built by two brothers — master stone builders, and artists in their craft. They raised its walls 45 to 50 centimetres thick in the old Greek way, stone laid on stone by hand. The house was never connected to the electricity grid, never had running water, and stood empty in these hills for more than twenty-five years.
When the current owners found it, they chose not to transform it but to listen to it. Working side by side with one of the brothers who built it, they rebuilt the house step by step with minimal intervention — hearing what the building itself suggested, letting it direct what should happen next. It was less renovation than craft; closer to art than construction.
The masonry now does what it has done for generations: it keeps the rooms cool through the heat of the day and holds a quiet, even light. Inside, stone meets wood and blackened metal; the furniture is contemporary and restrained. Nothing competes with the walls or the view.
The garden is planted with local species only, and will be completed next winter with more plants native to these hills. The owners made this their own place of escape and rest — and now wish others to share the same experience.

The 17-metre balcony
Along the upper level runs a balcony of roughly 17 by 4 metres, open to the sea from end to end. It holds a dining table for eight and a sofa set — two sofas, an armchair and a low table — so the day can move from breakfast to dinner without going inside.
This is where the house earns its keep: coffee at first light, long lunches in the shade, and the Libyan Sea on the horizon the whole time. The balcony is protected from the sun and sits directly above the infinity pool, sharing the same view and the same sea breeze.
Beside it, an open room of stone and rock offers something rarer still — a corner placed deliberately in the least windy spot of the property, for evenings when the breeze rises and you want to stay outside anyway.

After dark
High-quality exterior and architectural lighting illuminates the house, pool, terraces, stairs and stone walls in the evening. The effect is calm rather than theatrical — the house glows, the sky stays dark, the sea disappears into sound.
Remote work
A place to work
For stays that mix work and rest there is a dedicated remote-work setup: a proper desk, an external monitor and a quality office chair. The house is connected by satellite internet (Starlink) and WiFi 6 throughout, so calls and uploads hold up even this far south.
